Dozens of Tampa Bay residents crowded the St. Petersburg Museum of History on Tuesday to learn more about the benefits of medical marijuana. The discussion, which touched on the history of medical cannabis and a breakdown of Amendment 2, was led by Cleveland Clinic-trained physician and founder of Access Marijuana RX (AMRX), Lora L. Brown, MD.

The newly passed amendment allows patients who want relief from debilitating diseases or conditions to receive low-THC or medical cannabis prescriptions from physicians certified by the Florida Department of Health.

Conditions that qualify as outlined by the newly passed amendment include:

  • Cancer
  • Epilepsy
  • Glaucoma
  • AIDS and HIV
  • PTSD
  • ALS
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Muscle spasms
  • Multiple sclerosis

If deemed applicable by the provider, other conditions, such as chronic pain, may also qualify.

Over 50 attendees who lived with a variety of conditions, such as Parkinson’s and PTSD, came to the hour long seminar and learned about the entire patient qualifying process, as well as the efficacy of medical cannabis. Dr. Brown and her medical team at AMRX are currently seeing over 40 patients a week in their office.

“Once we provide an initial in-person evaluation we will make clinical recommendations including cannabis products, routes of delivery and dosages to the Health Department’s Compassionate Use Registry. From there, our patients will be able to obtain their medical marijuana through any of the Florida licensed dispensaries,” said Dr. Brown.

Medical cannabis is available in many Florida cities, but is also available for home delivery. Find out more by calling Access Marijuana RX at 727-209-5470 today.
